A Taste of Saint-Lary! 🧀🐐

Presentation

Experience the pastoral traditions and local craftsmanship of the Aure Valley.

Step into the heart of Pyrenean mountain life with a unique experience for the whole family, combining local flavours, traditional know-how and authentic encounters.

When we think of the Pyrenees, there are a few things the whole family agrees on: sheep, goats, cows, mountain pastures and, of course… cheese!

So, let’s head to Saint-Lary Soulan and meet the passionate local producers of the Aure Valley.

On the programme:

  • Visit Ferme des Carlines and watch the sheep being milked every day at 5 pm. Discover the secrets of traditional cheese-making and the farm’s unique local products.

  • Visit the Gouaux goat farm at 5.30 pm for a tasting of fresh goat’s cheese, followed by the milking of the goats at 6 pm.
Closed on Thursdays and Saturdays, when the producers are at the local markets.

  • Visit the Mohair goat farm, where you can meet and cuddle the Angora goats and discover how their mohair wool is transformed. The finished products are wonderfully soft, warm and lightweight.
Free admission from 3 pm to 6 pm, Tuesday to Friday.

And there’s more! If you’re staying over the weekend, don’t miss the weekly market in Saint-Lary. If you’re visiting during the week, head to Arreau market on Thursday for even more local flavours.
